2016 Journey Into Holiness
14th Annual Women’s Retreat

September 12, 2016

Dear Greater Friendship Women of God and Friends,

It is that wonderful time again to prepare for our annual fall Women Retreat.  This annual event will be held Thursday evening through Saturday, October 27 - October 29, 2016. We will meet at Crown Plaza Hotel, MSP Airport, MOA, 3 Appletree Square, Blooming-ton, MN. Then on Sunday, Oct 30, 2016, we will be celebrating our annual Women Day. This is a fifth Sunday. Therefore, we will have Sunday School at 09:00 and Worship at 10:15 a.m.

We are so excited and looking forward to our 14th year of learning and growing to be Holy women of God as we travel this holiness journey. So, come let us celebrate, and en-courage other women to come whether a member of Greater Friendship or otherwise.  We are praying that those who attend will be healed with God’s Precious Power.  Our topic for this year will be Journey into Holiness:  Finish what you started (The book of He-brews, especially chapter 12:1-2). We are also asking you to read:  “A Lineage of Grace” by Francine Rivers. Again the author has captured the attention of the reader with her sound and thought provoking stories of “five novellas on the women in the lineage of Je-sus Christ”:  Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba and Mary. She has also included study sec-tions at the end of each novella. Please take time to answer these questions. We will be discussing these study questions during the retreat.

Please complete the registration form along with your non-refundable deposit, and return it to the church office or Ms. Bernadette Hebert as soon as possible.  Your registration amount will be applied to your total registration fee. If you do not have access to the reg-istration forms reply to this email of your desire to attend. You may also online at:  www.greatfriend.org.

Again, please come, be blessed, and give yourself a treat by attending this wonderful, Holy Spirit-filled, God blessed retreat. “Bring all your troubles to the Lord.”  His way is easy and His burden is light.

Yours in Christ,

Theresa Russell, APRN, CNP, PN

School Board Candidate Forum

To all friends, neighbors, and allies who would like to see Minneapolis Public Schools become a district where every student is cherished and thrives - there are two important votes on November 8 for all Minneapolis voters, and an upcoming event:
School Board Candidate Forum
Please join ISAIAH, NOC, and Minneapolis Rising at the "Creating a School Climate to Promote Racial Justice" forum at 6 pm on Wednesday, October 26 to hear the MPS School Board Candidates share their views on some of the areas where we see the largest racial disparities in our district today.  The forum will feature stories from parents and educators in the schools, a brief town hall-style Q&A, and a short reception. The forum will be held at New Creation Church, at 1922 25th Ave N in Minneapolis.
Please extend the invitation to any friends or voters in Minneapolis concerned about equity in our public schools.
School Levy Renewal

Minnesota schools have some of the largest racial outcome gaps in the country, and many of the schools that serve children of color are already under-resourced. As such, we urge all Minneapolis residents to support the renewal of the school levy.  If this is not approved, a 13% budget cut means fewer support services to help the most vulnerable children succeed in school.  A drop in school funding always impacts our students of color disproportionately.  Renewing the school levy is a justice issue. For more information, visit www.yesformplskids.org or www.facebook.com/yes4mplskids.
Thank you,
ISAIAH Education Team
