7 Then the angel of the Lord came again a second time and touched him and said, “Get up, and eat, for the journey is too long for you [without adequate sustenance].”

SaySo Ministries, Inc  - 2015 Journey Into Holiness

Greetings Ladies,

I praise God for you. Pray you are praying for our upcoming annual Women Retreat October 29-31, 2015; and with our gathering together in worship on Sunday November 1, 2015. We have wonderful speakers for Sunday:  Minister Kenta White & Minister Phaedra McLin.

Our topic:  Journey Into Holiness - The Future of GOMER; Experiencing God. Operating in the depth of His Power. We will be studying the book of Hosea. I also encourage those who will, to read a book that I've found gives another look at what Gomer's past may have been.  The book title is:  "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers. But, as the editor cautions, and I agree,  to first-time readers: "In this retelling of the biblical story of Hosea and Gomer in an 1800s setting, Francine was faced with some difficult choices. Scripture deals openly and frankly with Gomer’s marital infidelity and prostitution. How much “detail” then, should Francine include to bring that impact into a fresh setting?" The story tells of "Love that won't let go no matter what."

We will discuss excerpts from this book during the retreat. Yet, if you do not purchase the book read the book of Hosea and the historical references.

We look forward to our gathering.

Theresa Russell

Earned Sick & Safe Time Rights in Minneapolis

Subject: Raise Your Voice for Earned Sick and Safe Time in Minneapolis

You have probably seen in the news that corporate power is working hard to dismantle the Working Families Agenda in Minneapolis.  Already, our city political leaders have abandoned Fair Scheduling laws and now the ability of low wage workers to care for themselves and their families by earning sick and safe time is at risk.  The attached document has all the details of why Earned Sick and Safe Time would mean healthier communities and a more dignified economy.  This is clearly an issue of both racial equity and educational opportunity as minority workers are disproportionately likely to hold positions that do not provide paid time off and thus are more likely to send a sick child to school because they can't afford to take time off, putting many more children at risk.

The final decision on whether Minneapolis will require Earned Sick and Safe Time for Minneapolis employers is imminent and we must all raise our voices now, particularly those of us who live in Minneapolis, to push this through.

Here is what you can do:
*  Make calls and send emails to your Minneapolis City Council person, who will be voting on this ordinance. Cam Gordon, Elizabeth Glidden,  Alondra Cano and Lisa Bender need "thank you" messages for their leadership.  All other city council members need to be pushed to support Earned Sick and Safe Days.
*  Join your neighbors at a phone bank organized by Neighborhoods Organizing for Change (NOC) where we will call sympathetic constituents and connect them directly to their city council member.  Phone banks will be held nightly starting on Wednesday, October 21 from 6 to 9 pm at the NOC office at 1101 W. Broadway Ave, Minneapolis.  More information will follow about which nights will have phone banks.  Let me know if you would be interested in joining a group of Education Equity Team members to phone bank as a group.
Now is the time for us to demonstrate our power in the face of moneyed opposition and, in one shape or another, this is the same fight we will be waging in all of our campaigns, to uphold the sacredness of every human in the face of profiteering.  Winning Earned Sick and Safe Time for low wage workers would be a great place to start.
God bless,
Greg King
